Bogoro Local Government Council Of Bauchi State Approves Bye-Law Against Open Laxation


Bogoro Local Government Council of Bauchi State has approved a Bye-law against open laxation and stipulated Speaking at the meeting, UNICEF Consultant, Blessing Geoffrey, said that Bogoro Local Government Area was the first Local Government Area to become open defecation free (ODF) at first attempt and the first LGA to have the highest number of smart toilets facilities in Nigeria.

A fine of N5000 to be paid by violators Sole Administrator of Bogoro LGA, Alhaji Abba Isah Salihu who disclosed this during a stakeholders meeting at the council secretariat, said the new bye-law was meant to address the practice of open defecation.

Salihu urged members of the public to obey the law in their own interests and the wellbeing of the people.

Speaking on behalf of, religious leaders, the Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Bogoro, Rev. Father Vincent Bature promised to support and give the needed attention to the sustainability of open defecation free in Bogoro LGA.

He assured the stakeholders that all church leaders have been instructed to provide male and female toilets facilities within places of worship.On his part, the village head of Lusa, Mr. Dauda Zabas calls for the improvement of toilets in houses, churches, mosques, schools and market places.

He charged the people to always avoid defecating in the public so that both individuals and their family will remain healthy.
